Hear me out…these two movies basically have the same plot
This has been something that’s been in the back of my brain since about 2020. On the surface, yea you’d think I’m crazy comparing a Thomas the Tank Engine movie to the Hannah Montana movie, but beyond that, they’re similar more than we realized.
Let’s start with the beginnings: both start with the main character doing their usual day to day routine (Thomas working on his branch line, Miley trying to get into the venue for a Hannah concert). Both involve some risky stunts (Thomas and Bertie’s race/Miley and Lilly stealing the golf cart thingy from the security guard) it all leads into the opening sequence.
Main plot involves both our main characters starting to get a little full of themselves and wrapped up in their duties too well (Thomas thinking he’s untouchable cause he’s Sir Topham Hatt’s #1 engine/Miley letting Hannah consume her basically and losing sense of friends and family) and their prides are their biggest downfall and sets off the catalysts by some mega event (Thomas derailing Gordon’s coaches and Hannah getting in a shoe fight with Tyra Banks/crashing Lilly’s party). As a result their authority figures gives them a change of venue for a while to help them think about whats important and that their not as important as they think. Thomas’ case being he’s sent to work up at Arlesburgh to help with the Harwick extension and Miley having a two week “Hannah Detox” by going back to their hometown in Crowley Corners, Tennessee.
Also both involve a despicable man villain whose main goal is to get rich off his own gain (Sailor John and the treasure and the reporter with Hannah’s secret). Both whom get arrested in the end. Not to mention both have some pretty banger songs. One final note is both have a subplot that feels a little, underwhelming/unnecessary and leaves a little more to be desired from (Jackson and him not getting into Tennessee University so working with his cousin, even though that was mostly a deleted subplot/Henry being scared by Skiff and Sailor John)
I know this might be a bit of a stretch but it adds up, right?
