Outland spousal sponsorship + open work permit after AOR — is this possible?
I’m a Canadian citizen living in Ontario. My fiancée is an Indian citizen living in India and has a Canadian visitor visa.
We are considering doing a legal civil marriage in Canada, then she would return to India and continue working while I submit an outland spousal sponsorship / Family Class PR application.
My question is about the open work permit route:
After we receive AOR, can she come to Canada as a visitor, live with me at the same Canadian address, and apply for a spousal open work permit from inside Canada even though the PR application was submitted outland / Family Class?
Also, after applying for the OWP from inside Canada, does she need to remain in Canada until the OWP is approved, or can she temporarily return to India to continue working while the OWP is processing?
