I Live Alone | Ep 654 | 20260703 (Summer Retreat special)

This week was the first part of the Summer Retreat. There were many good moments as expected but it wasn't the "wow" episode I was hoping for. Nonetheless, we had Sung Hwan driving the big van, all the members sharing food (both in the van as during the random ingredient bibimbap), forming groups (Moo/Yaho group, Kian/Traffic group, CoKun/Ham group), we had Shin Young arriving just in time to show her running speed (this was tbh the most surprising of the whole episode) and Sung Hwan went to a Phuket beach (in his dreams).

The editors seemed to have cut 2 other entire segments: the dont-get-caught-on-camera segment (seemed fun!), and a passing water bowls behind you without looking segment (also seemed fun!). I had liked to see a bit more of that. I actually expected next week to be another full Summer retreat episode because of the time they spent running, but we'll only get the normal runtime (half an episode).

As always, feel free to share your thoughts or highlights of this episode. Images in the comments have been enabled again (as mentioned in the Moderator post this week) so share away! (I've flaired the post as "spoiler" so you share whatever)

Next week: The second part of the Summer Retreat (Talent show) + Yuri from SNSD showing us her Jeju-do house! (The ratings next week will be good, that's for sure)

I Live Alone | Ep 653 | 20260626

First segment this episode was Kim Shin Young. Even though she stayed inside the entire time (except for getting that package at her front door), it was so much fun. It's really a different type of vibe when a variety entertainer comes for a segment compared to idols, everybody is cracking jokes, not holding back. I laughed at the ridiculousness of the situations she found herself in: the cleaning tool, the instruction video in chinese, Hyunmoo guessing it's time for dinner, the lettuce that was untouched, the stack of pancakes next on her work bench, the CGI of her as queen/commonor/beggar, ... I thoroughly enjoy her segments on the show. (Kinda wish Park Na Rae was still around too, i always get reminded of her during Shin Young segments in the way the panelists react)

Second second was Jihyeon going shopping for Seoulite clothes with Code Kunst. It really showed that confidence is everything. As soon as he accepted the beanie, he wore that really well. And same actually for all the clothes he wore.

Next week: The Summer Retreat with all the recent guests of the past months (incl. Jihyeon still wearing a beanie!). Shin Young will also be there but probably a bit late (she made a comment at the beginning that she's booked in the morning, but she showed up in the next week clips). I bet this one is gonna be a lot of fun too!

I Live Alone | Ep 652 | 20260619

First segment was with Ryu Hye Young. It was funny to see the competition in the studio between her being a "fun runner" or a "serious runner". She did look like she would be a fast runner. I think the round table at the end of the members and her own testimony were also powerful; talking about anxiety and getting yourself out there.

Second segment was Code Kunst, prepping for and then watching the match between South Korea and Czechia, together with Epik High. I didn't know his studio used to be Epik High's but I loved their energy together. Also in the studio a lot of good moments, Kian84 asking hyunmoo to bring karina & winter on the show; Shaman Moo predicting results; Moonouncer doing the stadium noises and explaining how it was to watch it live in the stadium...

Next week: Kim Shin Young is back cleaning and Ji Hyeon goes shopping with CoKun.

I Live Alone | Ep 651 | 20260612

First segment was about Kang-Yong moving apartments. Happy he moved to a bigger place, but really surprised that he has that much stuff in that old apartment. The electricity situation looked really dodgy, i'm not sure about building regulations in Korea but having your electricity checked before renting out should be mandatory. Interesting system that jeonse lease where even though you're just renting, you have to put down a big lump sum of money. Here it was mentioned 200k for the modest apartment of Kang-yong with subsequent monthly rent of 150. But given he had to take out a loan to cover the deposit, he still has about 1000$ in monthly payments in total. Another funny thing was the laughter between the panelists because Hyunmoo sounded like an old wise man with his coarse voice.

Hyunmoo's segment with Sunmoo was adorable. Learned a few things about dogs too (no dog grooming before a certain age, no outside walks until all vaccinations are done, ...) (P.S.: i've never had a puppy/dog myself)

Next week: Ryu Hye Young being a home-body but going for fun run outside. And Code Kunst prepping for (and watching?) the South Korea - Czechia match.

I Live Alone | Ep 650 | 20260605

This week we had Gyeong Hye eating tacos, doing some refurbishments with a new closet (her tiny apartment looks a lot more clean now!) and taking English classes with Justin.

Dae Ho became a market Prince (funny how all those ladies came up to him to take pictures) and he installed a bouldering gym in his house. To be honest, i wouldn't this on drywall either (like people told him) without having (concrete) bricks behind behind it and then using plugs with those screws. I'm not sure what the walls are made of in Korea since it's a very old building. But kudos to Dae Ho for doing in his own home whatever tf he wants.

As a sidenote: those silent product placements always crack me up because you can feel them coming but there's no "acknowledgement" of it being an advertisement, they just start exclaiming adjectives. (Bonus was the Champs-Elysées song being played because he made a western style dish)

Next week: Hyun moo with a cute puppy and announcer Ko Kang-yong moving places to a bigger apartment (but seems like not everything will be working as expected).

I Live Alone | Ep 649 | 20260529

Just finished watching the first segment with Choi Ji Su. Great to see that her relationship with her parents is so wholesome. It was also adorable that she started crying when the members gave their honest thoughts about her at the end.

Shout out also to Shin Young who creates so many funny moments. When she wants to make a big reaction, she stands up but even as she's standing she isn't much taller than the other member sitting down which cracks me up.

I haven't yet watched the Sung Hwan segment. Might edit this post a bit later when i've had time to watch it.

Next week: return of Gyeong Hye who seems to be looking for a new part-time job and Dae Ho who's creating a bouldering gym in his house.

I Live Alone | Ep 648 | 20260522

First segment was Kian visiting his mom and "brothers" Alkong & Dalkong. Like they mentioned, it's a bit ridiculous to call it a "kindergarten", with holidays, class presidents, etc. but the dog owners seem to be having a good time, and the dogs too (they get properly trained which is good!). Also nice to hear that Hyunmoo gave his parents a dog from the same shelter that Alkong & Dalkong came from.

Second segment was even more fun (imo) with the new joiner Lee Seon Min. His frugal lifestyle, his UFC jabs, his huffing and puffing in the gym (lol at him becoming a personal trainer for a whole 5min for that kiddo), cooking good food... He would be a good fit for a collab with Kim Dae Ho in the future :) It did occur to me that they seem to have stopped filming when he was eating his lunch? Hope we're getting more of him in the future!

Next week a cleaning themed episode with new joiner Choi Ji Su and regular member Sung Hwan.

I Live Alone | Ep 647 | 20260515

I liked the Kim Shin Young segment, she's been living alone for a long time so she has a good routine to keep her house nice and tidy. I'll try her toothpaste and foot shampoo (never seen foot shampoo in the store though...) mix for cleaning the bathroom, maybe it works better than what i'm currently using. The editors showing her as Oompa Loompas cracks me up every time.

Also a fun intermezzo that she brought some food to the studio, the other panelists were so funny waiting for their turn for a piece. It did remind me that not so long ago, with Jang Woo & Narae Palm Oil Family, that Hyunmoo had a very heavy foodie persona but he's shifted very much in his commentary (and he has also lost a lot of weight?) since they both have "left" the show.

Seeing Dowoon defending himself with his Busan(?) accent was also funny.

Joy her segment was more entertaining than I had thought it would be and her doing everything but studying was very relatable.

Next week Kian84+Mom in Jeju-do, and a new Rainbow guest: Lee Seon Min.

I Live Alone | Ep 646 | 20260508

Posting the weekly thread myself since u/bkryze hasn't posted his/her weekly I Live Alone post.

Although I enjoyed the Fun run, I think a single (+-45min) segment would've been good enough. We had the best part (them doing everything but running) last week imo. It was funny that they bought lottery tickets and discussed sharing profits and not disappearing, and then it turns out Dowoon was not on the commentary panel + >!dropped out the Fun run team!<.

For the Bum-June segment it was good that they didn't solely focus on his bread-loving persona and we got some fencing action and house remodeling. Code Kunst was really witty with pointing out that Hyunmoo and SungHwan were digging their graves by criticizing the TXT member and everybody caught on quickly.

The (bluetooth) food link between Sung Hwan and Shin Young has also been a nice development, I hope they meet up in a future episode as the new foodies (now that there's no Palm Oil Family anymore).
