This weeks episode started with Ryu Hye Young unexpectedly joining the fun run club (and fun language club) of Hyunmoo. She sold some stuff on Karrot (i think that was their PPL this week?) and then had her "meetup" with Ko Kyung pyo. Her segment had some nice ties to Minho who also studied in her year at the same University and then in the restaurant it turned out Hyunmoo was there like 15 years ago or so. Then uncle Kian making the remarks that everyone was thinking ("that's how you end up dating") and turned the segment into a romantic movie scene.

In the Chunk trio segment, the long expected retry with the chinese window cleaner turned out just as bad as with her own windows, and Sung Hwan was visibly upset by having the dirt on those windows smeared out. The rest of the segment was their mukbang with 410$ of meat (it didn't look that big tbh but it was very nicely marbled meat), and many other (some very salty) dishes lol.

Next week: Hyunmoo goes travelling and Park Gyeong Hye meets up with Hyun Bong-Sik

This week started we started with Sung Hwan inviting Seon Min and Shin Young to his house. Before Shin Young arrived there was really some good camaraderie between them, going about buying the meat and veggies at the open market. We didn't get much Shin Young today (time was flying through the segment) but we'll get a second part next week which looks to be a mukbang (and maybe they'll clean some windows too).

In Ji Hyeons segment I was amazed that his Chinese is still so good, he was only there for 2 years (and that was +- 20 years ago) but he was able to chat up locals. That one dude in the park singing korean songs, i wonder what his backstory is that he knows these. Everyone also enjoying the local dialect when he met up with his college friend.

Next week: part two of the Chunk trio and Hye Young makes a return and meets up with an actor friend.

First segment was with the easy-going Dawn. The guy is stylish af (sad he has to cover his tattoos) + lives in a really nicely decorated house. We don't often see houses on the show but it really showed how awesome being able to sit on your own porch is, or to do camping in your garden. Daeho trying to establish "bluetooth" connections with Dawn but always getting shut down by the panel was good to get some laughs in.

We also got the Real Running Squad (as I called them in the previous episode) who rebranded themselves as the Alone Crew. It was nice seeing the photos that they've met up outside of ILA too to go for a run, and maybe future plans for doing a haunted house run. Them stealing the members from the fun run crew has become a good running joke now (pun intended) in the show, and them baiting Ji Hyun to join was hillarious.

Synopsis: This week it's Lee Ju Seung visiting his grandmother and the real running squad with Kian, Minho and Bae Na Ra.

We started with the Yuri segment this week. What surprised me was her laidback attitude going around Jeju-do (going for a walk with a neighbours dog, visiting the restaurant, going around on her bike, ..). Her self-reflection at the end was also inspiring.

Second segment was the talent show of the Members' summer retreat (ignoring the Chicken PPL). I actually enjoyed it a lot. It was awkward (Seon Min his buzz lightyear), relatable (Kian his last minute regrets are the same thoughts I get when I have to do presentations at work), impressive (Bae Na Ras voice), funny (Moollit), enjoyable (Cool Cool), and much more. I really laughed a lot with all the scenes and also with the cringe in the studio when they had to rewatch themselves doing the talent show but they all wanted to hide.

Next week: The Real Running segment we've been waiting for. And Ju Seung visiting his grandmother (it's gonna be a tear jerker that one, I was already getting emotional from the preview)

This week was the first part of the Summer Retreat. There were many good moments as expected but it wasn't the "wow" episode I was hoping for. Nonetheless, we had Sung Hwan driving the big van, all the members sharing food (both in the van as during the random ingredient bibimbap), forming groups (Moo/Yaho group, Kian/Traffic group, CoKun/Ham group), we had Shin Young arriving just in time to show her running speed (this was tbh the most surprising of the whole episode) and Sung Hwan went to a Phuket beach (in his dreams).

The editors seemed to have cut 2 other entire segments: the dont-get-caught-on-camera segment (seemed fun!), and a passing water bowls behind you without looking segment (also seemed fun!). I had liked to see a bit more of that. I actually expected next week to be another full Summer retreat episode because of the time they spent running, but we'll only get the normal runtime (half an episode).

First segment this episode was Kim Shin Young. Even though she stayed inside the entire time (except for getting that package at her front door), it was so much fun. It's really a different type of vibe when a variety entertainer comes for a segment compared to idols, everybody is cracking jokes, not holding back. I laughed at the ridiculousness of the situations she found herself in: the cleaning tool, the instruction video in chinese, Hyunmoo guessing it's time for dinner, the lettuce that was untouched, the stack of pancakes next on her work bench, the CGI of her as queen/commonor/beggar, ... I thoroughly enjoy her segments on the show. (Kinda wish Park Na Rae was still around too, i always get reminded of her during Shin Young segments in the way the panelists react)

Second second was Jihyeon going shopping for Seoulite clothes with Code Kunst. It really showed that confidence is everything. As soon as he accepted the beanie, he wore that really well. And same actually for all the clothes he wore.

Next week: The Summer Retreat with all the recent guests of the past months (incl. Jihyeon still wearing a beanie!). Shin Young will also be there but probably a bit late (she made a comment at the beginning that she's booked in the morning, but she showed up in the next week clips). I bet this one is gonna be a lot of fun too!

First segment was with Ryu Hye Young. It was funny to see the competition in the studio between her being a "fun runner" or a "serious runner". She did look like she would be a fast runner. I think the round table at the end of the members and her own testimony were also powerful; talking about anxiety and getting yourself out there.

Second segment was Code Kunst, prepping for and then watching the match between South Korea and Czechia, together with Epik High. I didn't know his studio used to be Epik High's but I loved their energy together. Also in the studio a lot of good moments, Kian84 asking hyunmoo to bring karina & winter on the show; Shaman Moo predicting results; Moonouncer doing the stadium noises and explaining how it was to watch it live in the stadium...

Next week: Kim Shin Young is back cleaning and Ji Hyeon goes shopping with CoKun.

First segment was about Kang-Yong moving apartments. Happy he moved to a bigger place, but really surprised that he has that much stuff in that old apartment. The electricity situation looked really dodgy, i'm not sure about building regulations in Korea but having your electricity checked before renting out should be mandatory. Interesting system that jeonse lease where even though you're just renting, you have to put down a big lump sum of money. Here it was mentioned 200k for the modest apartment of Kang-yong with subsequent monthly rent of 150. But given he had to take out a loan to cover the deposit, he still has about 1000$ in monthly payments in total. Another funny thing was the laughter between the panelists because Hyunmoo sounded like an old wise man with his coarse voice.

Hyunmoo's segment with Sunmoo was adorable. Learned a few things about dogs too (no dog grooming before a certain age, no outside walks until all vaccinations are done, ...) (P.S.: i've never had a puppy/dog myself)

Next week: Ryu Hye Young being a home-body but going for fun run outside. And Code Kunst prepping for (and watching?) the South Korea - Czechia match.

This week we had Gyeong Hye eating tacos, doing some refurbishments with a new closet (her tiny apartment looks a lot more clean now!) and taking English classes with Justin.

Dae Ho became a market Prince (funny how all those ladies came up to him to take pictures) and he installed a bouldering gym in his house. To be honest, i wouldn't this on drywall either (like people told him) without having (concrete) bricks behind behind it and then using plugs with those screws. I'm not sure what the walls are made of in Korea since it's a very old building. But kudos to Dae Ho for doing in his own home whatever tf he wants.

As a sidenote: those silent product placements always crack me up because you can feel them coming but there's no "acknowledgement" of it being an advertisement, they just start exclaiming adjectives. (Bonus was the Champs-Elysées song being played because he made a western style dish)

Next week: Hyun moo with a cute puppy and announcer Ko Kang-yong moving places to a bigger apartment (but seems like not everything will be working as expected).

Just finished watching the first segment with Choi Ji Su. Great to see that her relationship with her parents is so wholesome. It was also adorable that she started crying when the members gave their honest thoughts about her at the end.

Shout out also to Shin Young who creates so many funny moments. When she wants to make a big reaction, she stands up but even as she's standing she isn't much taller than the other member sitting down which cracks me up.

I haven't yet watched the Sung Hwan segment. Might edit this post a bit later when i've had time to watch it.

Next week: return of Gyeong Hye who seems to be looking for a new part-time job and Dae Ho who's creating a bouldering gym in his house.
