Song help for audition
So my high school is doing Little Shop of Horrors in the fall for the musical show. To preface, I have not done much theater in the past and I’ve done only one show as an emergency replacement. I do have musical talent, though.
I am going to see Little Shop in theaters to get a better look of what role I am auditioning for, but for the audition, I have to sing a broadway song somewhat related to the musical (but not FROM the musical) and a monologue. I see a popular choice for monologues is Leo Bloom’s monologue before the judge in “The Producers,” and that seems fairly easy to memorize and practice.
But I’m stumped on what song to pick, as it feels like there are so many options. I’m thinking of a song to show my musical range, as I can comfortably hit a C2-D2 and up to around an E4 in my full voice. I’m not experienced at all in the musical theater world but I’ve been given the opportunity to audition and I definitely would like to. If anyone has any advice please feel free, and if I didn’t provide enough information or have something wrong please let me know as I’m trying to learn!
