Thoughts on development through practice vs development through game time

For 12u LL Majors, is it more important for development to play on an "A" team that's going to be stacked with good players that my son has to beat out at practices, which he may not, to get to play the spots he wants (SS, P, CF) or to be on our leagues "B" team (primarily kids moving up from Minors) but get the in-game reps at those positions every game. My kid could play on either team. One team is going to get more wins than the other.

Both sets of coaches are knowledgeable and work well with the kids. The "A" coach is more technical and competitive and the "B" coach is more about building confidence and camaraderie.

Would love to hear opinions.

Realistic chances of being selected as a middle aged recruit

TLDR: My career in film and animation is looking like it's coming to a dead end. I've worked in animation for the past 20 years and I'm happy with what I accomplished but the reality is that things are rapidly changing and I need to move on.

I've decided what I would like to do with myself for the next 20 years is law enforcement in my smallish (pop. 56,000) hometown. I have no previous criminal record, happily married with children and supported by friends who actually think this career pivot fits me.

Aside from the POST written exam, the PAT, and a decent interview what's the probability that the PD for my city would consider a candidate in his mid 40s?

Edit: I also have 10+ years of boxing and wrestling and have kept in decent shape.
