What would you do - Women on left in mixed

My partner and I are considering putting me on the left because i have a better backhand dink and more consistent. In some matches with our friends which are of similar level he loses points more than wins when it's their left side vs him on the left. Our concern is would you automatically think he is the weaker player and start targeting him, and I get iced out? What would you test?

He has slightly longer reach than me and we're ok with letting him poach middle with his backhand. Has anyone played with a stronger female and what was the game plan?

--Update--
I didn't clarify too much in the original post so i'll some details here.

  1. This is for a Tournament coming up in two weeks. We think we need to commit to a decision now in order to get enough play time in.
  2. We do better with him on the left when it's players we haven't played against. We do better with me on the left against our friends that know our game.
  3. I'm the better dinker, for everything else we are either equal or he is better.

pickleball opens play etiquette

What etiquette should we be aware of in open play?

My top 3

  1. Don't leave the single paddle waiting in the rack.
  2. Stop play and get ball for the other court.
  3. Don't change who you would hit the ball to if there is a weaker player on the other side.
