"Trench Gun" on Guns(dot)com - Buyer Beware!

Just so you guys are aware this seller is deleting comments. I asked if the barrel was marked "CYL" since all of the photos were taken from an angle that doesn't show this marking... Strange considering it's one of the most important markings on the gun.

Secondly, I asked about the bead sight because a true "Trench Gun" has no bead sight on the barrel, only on the heatshield... This gun has neither.

I wasn't rude or unprofessional. I didn't accuse the seller of anything, or say that the gun was fake. I am STILL not even saying that the gun is a fake. I simply asked, "Is the barrel marked CYL? Where is the front bead sight?". Same comment. Deleted both times.

Seller then updated the description to say the bead sight is missing but makes no mention of where it should be. You'll notice the part of the description about the cylinder bore, sounds more like a generalized overview of authentic guns and not necessarily the one being auctioned.

The heat shield has no markings and is almost certainly a reproduction. Worse still. It looks like it was hand weathered to look old. The bayonet also looks like a reproduction, and a cheap one at that.

After my attempts to get answers from the seller. I voiced my concerns to Guns(dot)com 3 days ago now and haven't heard anything back. So by this stage, all I can do is warn others.

Again, is there a chance this is a legit "Trench Gun"? Sure. But without more information there is no way to be sure. And the only reason I could think of as to why the seller would delete comments is because they have something to hide.

So much for Guns(dot)comes "trusted" dealers... I guess they're not different than Gunbroker and the same cautioned should be used.

Happy 4th to my fellow Americans!
