2% Burden? Let’s do the math.

So I just did my second 2-week ZIO patch monitor and for the second time, it shows a burden of about 2%. I thought this time had a decent amount of activity (definitely not my worst, but a good amount) but still just 2% burden. So, nice and low, no big deal, right? Well, I hate this % thing, because I am in frequent bigeminy and I feel it all, and it doesn’t feel like 2%. And though I’ve had this for over a year now, and am mostly used to it, it’s still SOOO disruptive.

But let’s ponder this… If the average person has a resting heartrate of about 60-80 beats per minute, then let’s just say you get 100 beats every 90 seconds (1.5 minutes). So 2% burden, I believe, translates to about 2 ectopic beats (or PVCs) in that 90 seconds. That translates to about 20 PVCs every 15 minutes, 80 PVCs every hour. That actually fits for me as I get about 4-8 strings of bigeminy an hour, and each run of bigeminy usually has about 15-25 PVCs. (Let’s call that an average as I get hours with lots more, and hours with none during a day.) So 2% seems reasonable. In numbers.

I know some of you out there have incredibly high burdens, and worrying about 2% may seem silly. But back to tolerable levels of burden… I just don’t see how someone living with 80 ectopic beats an hour, or 4, 5, or 6 runs of bigeminy an hour, is supposed to just ignore it. Even 1% means you’re feeling a PVC every minute and a half. 40 an hour. Am I doing the math wrong? How is that supposed to be normal living? Why is this considered "ignorable"?

Apologies. Feeling grumpy at the very symptomatic ZIO patch run that resulted in only 2%.

Beginner Yarn Help, Please!

Hi, all. I've been playing with a Beka frame loom that I found - learned a lot and had fun making a few things. But the weaving bug bit me pretty instantly and I realized I really wanted the next thing. So for Mother's Day, I was gifted an Ashford 24" rigid heddle loom. I'm ready to dig in, but I'm realizing I am still horribly confused by yarns, string, cord, DK, 8/2, 8/4, etc... The frame loom projects I did need a nice tight warp, and anything for the weft, and the projects are usually weft-facing - mug rugs and tapestry type stuff. But now I want to do a plain balanced weave dishtowel as my first RHL project. I have some 3/2 cotton yarn, 8/2 cotton yarn, 8/4 cotton warp, Omega Sinfonia, and a few others I got from Gist and Woolery. I have a 7.5 dent and a 12.5 dent read for the new RHL. How do I know what yarn will work with what reed and what pattern? Does anyone have a good summary of weaving yarns so I can build my knowledge and confidence? For this first project, do I need a pattern or can I just sort of design my own and go for it with the 3/2 or 8/2? Any and all advice is so welcome. Thank you.

Did prism glasses help anyone? I'm being measured today and feel nervous.

I've been diagnosed with Vestibular Migraines (sort of - ENT feels this is the likely culprit after a year of neuro, cardio, and hearing testing). But I've been convinced that something is ALSO wrong with my eyes. A year ago when this started, the eye docs found nothing. But at my eye appt this week I told them it feels like my eyes just don't work together fast enough. They did some testing and found I do in fact cross my eyes a little. So today they're fitting me for prisms which means I'll need glasses all the time which means I'll need progressives. This has me a little freaked out. Too much for this already swimmy, headachey brain to adjust to. But did it help any of you?

Has anyone left their Ashford Rigid Heddle loom unwaxed and unfinished?

Hi, all. My mother's day gift arrived today - my new Ashford Rigid Heddle 24" loom. I'm excited to put it together but of course it's unfinished. It's beautiful unfinished, I don't mind the look. I'm tempted to leave it, but is that a bad idea? Did anyone leave theirs unfinished? Did it hold up ok? Or should I wax or seal it? If so, what product do you recommend? Thanks for any advice on this step. I'm anxious to get it set up!
