Locked out of Google Account: Trapped in a 2FA loop (Have phone number, but OTP is sending to the locked email!)
Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone here has successfully navigated this and can offer some advice, because I am completely stuck in a Google recovery loop.
The Situation:
- I am trying to log into my Gmail account.
- I don't know my password.
- I have full access to the linked phone number for 2FA.
The Problem: After I unable to enter my password then I verify my phone number via SMS, Google asks for a second verification code. The catch? It is sending that OTP directly to the exact same Gmail account I am currently locked out of.
What I’ve tried:
- I’ve gone through the standard
[accounts.google.com/signin/recovery](https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery)page. - Whenever I click "Try another way," it either loops me right back to asking for the email OTP or tells me it doesn't have enough information to verify me.
- I cannot find a way to enter a different contact email for manual review. It just keeps stonewalling me because I can't check the locked inbox.
Has anyone actually escaped this specific loop? Is there a specific sequence of "Try another way" clicks that forces the system to let me provide a secondary contact email, or a waiting period I need to observe before trying again?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
