TWOC Twice in a Week?

hey all

i booked my flight tickets assuming i would get chinese visa on time but seems like its not going to work. i am an Indian national and i’m doing a central asia tour and booked my ticket from Almaty to Shanghai SHA (15th June) and Shanghai PVG to India (22nd June).

later I realised that i can use the TWOC option and travel to Shanghai (for 24 hours), and then go to hong kong or taipei (stay there from 16th to 21st June; yet to book these tickets) and come back to shanghai again. that way, i can avoid the cancellation and rescheduling process since i’m on a budget.

I think based on the info online (reddit, facebook, tripadvisor, etc.), a lot of people have done this and were able to make it work, but most of them are from the west, possibly giving them an advantage? i’m a bit worried that i might be scrutinised more becoz i’m an indian national lol.

please let me know if this would work at all. i’m alright if I get to shanghai in one of the two times mentioned above, but doing 2 x 24-hour transits would be great (ik ik beggars can’t be choosers haha) and i understand this is a case-by-case situation.

but pleasee LMK if you have any tips.

greatly appreciated! cheers 😄

Looking for 3 fellow travellers to go to Kol-suu Lake

Hi there,

I’m really interested in travelling to see Kol-Suu Lake and have started planning a trip. Since it’s close to the China border, we need a 4x4 car, permits, and accommodation. I’ve already booked a yurt camp (Visit Kol-Suu), and they’re happy to organise the car for us as well.

I’m planning a 3 day, 2 night trip on June 9, 10 and 11.

Day 1: Travel from Naryn to the yurt camp (around 4–5 hour drive) The yurt camp costs $70 USD per person, including food and stay. The 4x4 transport is quoted at 18,000 som (~$188 USD) total for 4 people (round trip). I’m looking for 3 others to join, which would make it about $47 USD per person.

Day 2: Hike to Kol-Suu Lake and return to the camp

Day 3: Travel back to Naryn

Permits are required but fairly easy to organise online about 2 weeks before. I’ve gathered the info and can share everything.

I thought I’d put this out there in case anyone is keen to join, please let me know if you’re interested
