Accounting to Coast Guard

Hey everyone,

I’m 24 and currently working at a Big Four firm. I have my bachelor’s and master’s in accounting, but I’ve always wanted to do something I am really passionate about.

I’m in good shape and have spent a lot of time on the water, so the Coast Guard feels like a great fit.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to move from a professional accounting career into a flight seat.

For those in the Coast Guard:

What’s the best route for someone with my degree and work experience?

Does having a lot of experience on the water help anything (even if it’s fishing/boating in Florida NY and NJ?

I’m ready to put in the work but want to make sure I’m starting on the right track. Any advice would be appreciated.

(I do not want to do anything accounting related although I would consider it).

Sorry if some of these questions make no sense as I have 0 knowledge about the process. Thank you!

Accounting to Air Force

Hi everyone!

I’m 24 years old and currently working in accounting at a Big Four firm, but I’ve always had a strong interest in aviation and becoming a pilot.

I graduated with both a bachelor’s and master’s in accounting from a top university, and while I chose the accounting path initially, flying has always been something I’ve wanted to pursue.
I’m in good shape, have a strong work ethic, and I’m willing to put in the time and effort needed, but I honestly don’t know what the best path forward is given my current situation.

I never took steps toward aviation earlier, so I’m trying to understand what options realistically make sense now.

For those with experience in the Air Force or military aviation, what would you recommend as the best route to becoming a pilot from where I’m at today?

Any advice, insight, or things you wish you knew earlier would be greatly appreciated
