Food Tips? What are you eating? HELP!

**This should also be flagged with fueling and body image, but just chose the most appropriate**

---

Edit: Oh, I am not tracking calories - I get a little too locked in when I have tried in the past and I know it isn't good for me.

Edit 2: My answer for now is juices, oils and bulk peanut butter.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply. Just to clarify my problem is not just "not eating enough" it is not being able to fit much more food in and still being in a deficit. I really do appreciate everyones replies - but some of you missed the essence of my question a little :)

---

Hello - I had a little look through and could see anything that was quite answering my question so hopefully this isn't asked all the time.

Basically my question is what are you eating to keep your intake up? I am a bottomless pit! And I kind of know the first answer will be CARBS(!!!) but I am at the point where I don't actually know how much more food I can cram in.

I know I can do my own research, but I find it pretty overwhelming and end up giving up. I find a lot of sites targeted to men saying "eat more!", but like ladies, there is only so much my stomach can hold at a time.

For a little more back story I have a naturally high metabolism and was already pretty active with other stuff before I started training for running as well - I love it, I feel great from it, health-wise my doctor says all is well. But I was already slim, and I have lost just a little more fat from my body and am not feeling myself as much as I used to.

I am eating large carb based meals (with protein and fats) 3 times a day, with snacks (mostly carbs) in between as well. I feel like I am sitting at my desk constantly eating while I work (my keyboard can't take any more!).

My overall protein intake is appropriate for me so I am not taking a protein powder, but I know there are weight gain specific ones but a lot look like they milk products and I am a little lactose intolerant and I hate the taste.

Do I just have to keep eating bulk peanut butter? Any tips or other calories dense food suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Dechonked!

Salem has hit is goal weight!

Down from 6.7kg (14.7lb) in Nov 25 to 5.4kg (11.9lb).

Pics from his weight loss journey included to set the scene.

Salem (5) is VERY food motivated. I adopted him when he was one year and he was already overweight. Our Vet said a realistic weight for him was 5.5kg and I had been trying to get him there for a few years now.

If you are eating anything he will let you know that he would REALLY appreciate some as well. As it turns out the little treats I gave him here and there were doing harm, especially since my housemates were all doing the same.

He gained 700g in a few months and I was mortified since I had been reducing his food (very vibes based at the time). As it turned out a housemate that just moved in was feeding him a little strawberry yogurt most days (I nearly lost it!).

I felt so guilty about him and sat down to work out the amounts I needed to feed him and an approach that would work for us. I used online calculators to begin with - the 'diet' amount that I was feeding him was too much (surprise!). I didn't jump straight to the recommended amount because I was afraid he would lose weight too quickly. Instead I printed out what is basically a fancy excel sheet to track his weight (image 2) and aimed for 50g a week, then adjusted as needed. It also helped that I put it on the fridge so everyone in the house could see how he was doing - I think it helped them feel accountable for the weight loss too! (My housemates even snitched on him when he'd beg too much haha).

To weigh him each week I ended up getting one of those scales people use to weigh fish so I could have his weight in grams. Then I bribed him into his carrier with 3 pieces of cat food (very food motivated) to get the measurement with the scale attached to the handle.

Some weeks he lost a bit less than he needed to, some weeks he lost more, some weeks he even gained weight.

The process took longer than I thought it would - but I am so happy with him! Also I am pretty sure the steep drop off at the end was from someone needing to use he litter tray and deciding the best time was after he was weighed!

We have another vet visit scheduled soon to decide how his weight is now! Regardless, he has SO much more energy than before.

And the one photo of him in the fridge was early on in his journey. I thought it was cute that he was having a browse so I took a photo - realised later that he was actually licking a knob of butter 🙄

tldr: Actually measuring things out helps so much! So does working to keep the people around you accountable.
