The first time Ilya and Shane meet in the gym, is it a coincidence that Ilya also just happens to be there in the middle of the night, or did he somehow engineer this, or followed Shane into the gym? If I recall correctly, the book is not 100% clear about it either....

A lot has been said about Connor's Russian pronunciation - his speech is very clear and his pronunciation is outstanding for someone who didn't speak the language before this movie (though admittedly, as a native speaker I clocked his American accent pretty much immediately, but I think it's impossible for a non native speaker to shake any semblance of an accent in Russian).
Something I am much more impressed by is: how on earth did he capture those Russian mannerisms?? The way he says "Irina" when Shane asks for his mom's name in episode 6, his facial expression, the tone of voice, this very Russian mix of stoicism and yet almost dramatic vulnerability?! It's shocking!
To any fellow Russians here, does he not also kind of remind you of young Sergey Zhigunov from Гардемарины Вперёд? Picture for comparison.
