What's the most useless career advice you've ever heard in your life?

We've all been through this situation - someone gives you career advice that seems smart and responsible, and then later you discover it was complete nonsense.

A few classics I've heard (and unfortunately, followed for longer than I should have):

"Be loyal to the company you work for and they'll take care of you." → A little later: budget cuts, layoffs, and two weeks of severance.

"Don't change jobs too often; hiring managers hate that." → Reality: changing jobs got me a 35% salary increase and a much more comfortable schedule.

"Chase what you love and the income will come on its own." → I chased freelance with all my heart. The income didn't come. 😅
