A week into AudioCrucible free open beta, you people are awesome!

Quick update on AudioCrucible (the UCS renamer + metadata writer I've been building). I opened the free beta last week and 200+ people signed up. Way more than I expected, to be honest, and it is really awesome.

First update went out today, and most of what's in it came directly from beta tester feedback. Genuinely thank you to everyone who tried it and sent reports.

What's in the update:

- Mac Intel support: universal builds (arm64 + x86_64), macOS 11 Big Sur minimum. If you were on an Intel Mac waiting for a compatible build, this is it.

- Restore Original Filenames: full undo of any rename batch, including metadata-only changes. Custom columns are preserved in an embedded WAV block, so rolling back doesn't lose your work.

- Automatic CSV exports per folder: `_List.csv` for SoundMiner / BaseHead / Soundly catalogs, `_Backup_Restore.csv` is for the undo. YOu can create your own CSV template (Options → CSV Export Template) so you can pick exactly which columns end up in each, and in which order.- **Metadata fix**: every field now writes properly and reads back in SoundMiner and other metadata tools.

- UI polish: lighter inputs, brick-red error cells, better highlight on metadata-only columns, dismissible info popups, fullscreen / window state persists across sessions, optional data-sharing nudge every 10 launches.

To update: launch AudioCrucible for the notification, or open the Hub from the install folder if the popup doesn't show.

I read every piece of feedback that comes in, really. If you want to try the beta, link is in the comments. Happy to answer anything here (or on the discord server)!

Opening the public beta of an offline tool for auto-tagging sound libraries, looking for testers

Hey r/sounddesign,

I've spent the last several months building a desktop app called AudioCrucible and I'm opening the free public beta today. It's the tool I needed, because my backlog was (and still is) desperately long...

What it does:

You point it at a folder of audio files

It analyses everything and proposes a UCS-compliant name, keywords, and a short description

You review and edit in the UI before any rename happens, nothing is "click and forget"

It writes BWF / iXML metadata that Soundminer, BaseHead, Pro Tools, and Reaper read natively

Runs fully local: no internet, no cloud upload, no account needed for analysis

A few honest disclosures

It's not perfect. Classification is right most of the time but there will be category errors, especially on heavily processed sources, layered designs, weird ambiences, etc. That's exactly why I want testers.

Free during the beta, and free forever for everyone who registers during the beta. Long term it'll be a one-time license, no subscription.

Windows and macOS, both supported.

What I'm asking for

Install it, throw your weirdest files at it, tell me where it breaks. There's a Discord linked from the site for feedback, or you can drop notes in the thread here. I'll be in the comments answering questions and taking the hits.
