Testing something for a frosty effect

Hi ! So recently, I realized that for the vinyl + white marker method, you need frosty sticker paper, not clear one. Unfortunately, I can’t find frosty paper close to where I live or the shipping costs are way to expensive, so I scratched my find to find a way to imitate a frosty effect on my cards to have better color. What I came up is

- Grab a holo PKM card stripped of the illustration with acetone.
- Use a white acrylic marker and draw a few lines in the middle of the card.
- Use a wet cotton swab to smear and dilute the white paint.
- Apply the illustration printed on clear sticker.

On the left is a failed card I removed the sticker, used the method mentioned above and then put the sticker back on. And on the right is a finished card I did a few days ago that does not have any frosty effect.

I wanted to ask your opinion on this, if it’s worth it and there’s improvements to make. Personally, the colors pop more and aren’t so dark and look consistent in any angle you holding the card instead of suddenly darkening and making the Pokémon stick out so much. However, the card is now much lighter and slightly desaturated and the holo isn’t shining as much. What do you think?

Two more cards I made

The Yveltal illustration is by Nurikabe and from the TCG Pocket.

The Tag Team illustration is by me !

I used the vinyl sticker sheet + white marker method. Slowly getting more precise with it !

Hi ! First time making custom Pokémon cards so i thought I’d share my mistakes for future people who wants to start doing this and for myself to remember. I also wanted to ask everyone what mistakes you made so that I won’t make them too!

  1. Cards too small.
The cards I printed were too small, and I think it’s because I didn’t put “Custom Size: 100%” when printing my file:
  2. Sticker sheet isn’t A4: I put all the cards I wanted to print on an A4 file, but the sticker sheets weren’t A4, so the last 3 cards weren’t fully printed. I’m gonna resize the file to the size of the sticker sheet.
  3. Closing my laptop. Yup, I was stupid, closed my laptop and caused my printer to bug and not finish correctly printing, thus wasting a sticker sheet.
  4. Acrylic markers: I knew that oil based marker are a must to paint on the sticky layer but believed acrylic would work too since the store I went didn’t have oil markers. Nope, the paint cracks, it’s ugly, go buy oil based markers.

Hi! I stumbled on an issue when printing my proxy cards. For some reason they are much smaller than official Pokemon, despite me sizing them 6,3x8,9 on an A4 file. How do I fix this ?
