I did not expect a gut punch at the end of the chapter. 😔 >! The Jailer's first/last conversation with "Merlin". The fact that she was scared to consider a life outside her role as the Jailor. The fact that she sat there as it all burned was sad, but when she started humming the song as well? !<

I genuinely felt a tiny hollowness in my chest cavity. Incredible writing.

Side note: I was falling off the game.. Suffice to say the story has me ready to explore again.
