My Acid Bath Fandom Tale
I'm 38 now - It was around 2001 or 02 when I was in eighth grade/freshman year - I would go visit my friend Travis and we would typically fuck around with warhammer minis, painting etc.. he had already gotten me into a few bands, some that stuck some that didn't but one particular day I came over he told me about Acid Bath and I was instantly intrigued by it but had no idea how much I would grow to love them. I was not much into extreme metal with harsh vocs back then, I was pretty much a classic metal dio kinda guy, (still am) but over the years the music by Acid Bath just hit harder and harder and I felt more and more close to it. 25 Years later easily one of my top 3 bands and I'm finally seeing them in Asheville in September. Their music is ultimately very bleak but I've always sensed a triumph in it, some sort of victory over the absurdity of existence through different perspectives and the imagination. I grew up in poverty here in East Tennessee, it's always felt very close to me, a source of inspiration and bleak company.
