Alternatives to CAMH Gender Identity Clinic?
tl;dr : Are there online or in-person resources that essentially cover all the details about FtM transitioning that I would get from speaking to someone at CAMH?
Hey all, first time poster. I feel a bit whiney about this, but I figured I'd go for it anyways. I got a referral to the GIC clinic at CAMH from my doctor. There was the expected 6+ month wait. Hilariously, the trouble started after CAMH reached out. Because basically from that moment they've either been losing my emails or intentionally ghosting me, and rescheduling the appointment with absolutely no warning. Three times, so far. I'm actually livid about it. So now they've sent me a new date and time (didn't even ask me for preferred dates and times, just sent me one date and time and told me to confirm), and I'm just so annoyed at the lack of any kind of care or consideration. I mean I do have a job, and you've assigned me a date in the middle of the workday after cancelling the other dates I agreed to back in early June!
I tried following up by phone. Left 1 voice message. Tried calling a few more times, no answer of course.
Sorry, I know this is whiny because I do technically have an appointment date if I'm willing to beg my boss for the afternoon off. But I just feel, I don't know, kind of disrespected. Which makes me feel so entitled to say. But getting blown off and jerked around doesn't feel great.
The thing is, my doctor is pretty great. He was down to prescribe me T from the jump, but I wanted to talk it through thoroughly with something to ensure I was going in with all eyes open and to also weigh options for top surgery.
I know there are a lot of resources, but that's kind of what the issue's been. It's overwhelming, especially for someone who's more non-binary than fully transitioning to male. I really want a full breakdown of the pros and cons and impacts and timelines and drug interactions etc. etc.
So yeah, are there any recommendations for a resource, be it written or video series, that basically covers what you'd get from a conversation with the CAMH GIC? (minus the diagnosis of course)
