Wheelchair for me/cfs? Process?

Hi! I’m a 21 year old college student with mild to moderate ME/CFS. i also have the trifecta (hEDS, POTS, and MCAS). My POTS is pretty severe and despite lifestyle changes and medication, I still pass out quite often. Which is why I’m inquiring about a wheelchair.

My biggest issue is walking from my car to class on my college campus, my uni has a shuttle but even with that the walk from the car to my classroom is often difficult and long. I’ve been in a crash & recover cycle for the last 3 years. I really want to break out of this nasty cycle so I can hopefully maintain some sort of baseline instead of the decline i’ve been on. I currently can’t attend school full time due to my fatigue.

If you have a wheelchair for your ME/CFS or POTS, what was the process like? Did your doctor encourage you to do occupational or physical therapy first? (i know GET is extremely harmful for ME/CFS and I worry my doctor will make me try it before prescribing me a wheelchair) What type of wheelchair do you recommend?

TLDR: College student with severe POTS and mild to moderate ME seeking advice about the process of obtaining a custom wheelchair. Been sick for over 3 years and I want to break out of the crash and recover cycle.
