What could I expect to find if I open a freezer that hasn’t been plugged in for the last 11 years and has a dead bird inside?

Very niche question but perhaps someone has an idea of whether I can just wear rubber gloves or need a full hazmat suit to deal with this.

Backstory, my mother died recently and I need to clear out the basement. She had an extra freezer down there and I know she put at least one large dead bird that she found in it. The fridge has been standing in the basement, unplugged, for over a decade now.
We want to put it out in the trash but obviously need to deal with the contents first.

Important info to add:
In this particular city refrigerators are to be placed out on the sidewalk with the door removed and slapped with a permit. I am grieving, not an idiot who can’t use google.
