HPE Demand - WA vs VIC

Hi all!

I’m about to graduate with a major in HPE and a minor in OED.

I’m from WA and understand that the demand for HPE teachers is clearly not very significant. I was wondering if any victorian teachers would be able to tell me what it’s like over there?

I’m pretty relationships oriented and would like to avoid getting stuck in relief forever. Any advice?

I would work in either Perth or Melbourne.

Also any advice on the application process in vic would be awesome 😆

Teaching in Broome

Hi all,

Just wondering what the experience is like to those that have taught in Broome before?

I understand it is hot and the crime rate is high. How is the actual teaching? And how liveable is it as a place?

I’m a HPE graduate and it looks like the most likely option to get an ongoing contract.

Cheers.

WA Resume Template

Hi all,

As a PST looking to apply for jobs for when I finish, do I use the provided DoE CV template? It asks for teaching employment history - do I just include prac information?

Additionally, the template they provided is password protected so you can’t change any formatting? Do I just leave the empty boxes for university quals seeing that I will only have 1?

WA vs VIC Demand??

Hi all,

I am a Pre-Service HPE teacher in WA graduating at the end of this year. Just about to wrap up my final prac so I’m beginning to look at registration etc.

I have always had an interest in moving to Victoria and understand the HPE demand is intense in WA (or so I’m told by many relief teachers). I was wondering what you guys think about how easy/hard it is to get a job as a HPE teacher in WA or VIC?

The common answer I get from the people in permanent positions is “If you are willing to apply at hard to staff schools you will be fine”. However, I get the feeling that there are simply too many graduates for jobs available in HPE.

Let me know what you think!

Cheers.
