I picked up a blacklock for 25% off and was a little shocked at how tough the surface was when it showed up. I’ve come to expect it on their cheaper offerings but the surface was similar to 80 grit sandpaper out of the box. I decided to join the ranks of people who sand down the surface. I stopped well before a mirror finish and had no issue with seasoning it.
