Returning to exercise

I'm 5 weeks post op (small femoral repair, open, no mesh) and I'm walking more and more every day (haven't done more than 7,000 steps in a day yet) but feeling in a real rut and wanting to get back to exercise. I still feel a bit of pain when I'm on my feet for too long or over do things like housework.

I was wondering what the best approach is, yoga, pilates? Assuming weight training should be pretty low weight. Before my hernia was diagnosed 6 months ago, I enjoyed jogging but I'm so scared to even try, not to mention how unfit I would be now. Any tips or experiences returning to exercise would be helpful. I know some people bounce back immediately and go on 10 mile walks after a week. I'd like to hear from average people like me, not super humans 🤣
