Mount drive bug

I have used many distros all with KDE Plasma once i found out that HDR support was coming.

Used Neon for a bit, Cashy for a while, now im using Fedora 44 With Plasma desktop. These are just the last few I have used.

I love it but there is a bug that keeps popping up on all distros that I now believe is plasma related because Gnome and other desktop environments don’t seem to have the same bug.

I can mount an internal drive; using butterFS and it auto mounts on boot for the first few days. Then it fails to mount. I have to open dalphin and sometimes i can mount it there but 90% of the time I have to open the disk manager and then mount it. Not sure why. (with or without a password set for permission to do so)

I have been troubleshooting this issue for almost 6 months now and what I have learned is:

After a cold boot I can then reboot and it auto mounts.

It starts becoming an issue shortly after the first 24hrs of installation and setup.

Edit of the fstab makes the drive mount once, then never again with errors. Creates ownership errors and parameter errors. <- I followed ai and video tutorials and got mixed results that amount to a negative outcome.

Same issue across multiple distributions; and different SSD drives. I verified it was not the SSD causing issues. However all my attempts to work out a solution has permanently damaged 2 of my 2TB WD SSD’s. They no longer work at all. Both have memory loss issues and suddenly loose formatting after a day or two. (i am confident it is just two faulty WD drives, im never buying WD again)

My question is; is this a known issue? or is there a place I can get a solution to this? When I google it I get distro specific solutions that don’t work.

Maybe helpful to know that my pc is a Threadripper 128c, 256thread, 128gb ram, server motherboard that has pcie cards in it that add 4 m.2 slots on each pcie slot, all 7 pcie slots are full speed gen4, x16 with bifurcation enabled to 4x4x4x4 as needed. Motherboard had me connect additional power to the pcie slots from my power supply (1600w)

Since i built it I have noticed that even after my motherboard bios update i can’t get more than 4 ram slots to work. Motherboard maybe $2k but there is little to no support. I am wondering if it maybe a motherboard issue and not a software problem.

I hope someone with more experience knows what I am talking about and can point me towards a solution; or just let me know if It is something being looked into/worked on? I don’t know at this point, my head hurts from banging it on the table trying to resolve it.
