{triggering - pictures} 2nd degree burn, I’m scared about healing process

Hi, this is my first post ever on Reddit, I’m just feeling very alone in this and found this community which has great information. I burnt myself 3 days ago with boiling water - I spilled a bowl I had over the counter as I was letting it cool down before doing some steaming (for my vocal chords).

It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced, burnt my pubis and thighs. Spent 30 minutes under the shower with cold water and then went to the ER. Got diagnosed with 1st and 2nd degree burns, and had a very small area where my skin was lifted on my inner thighs.

I’ve never burnt myself, and at the ER they just treated me and sent me home, not much information was given. Went somewhere else two days after to get dressing changed and they gave me instructions to take care at home. Have no idea how these kind of burns heal, I’m just really scared. I did my dressing changed today and it was so painful… I can barely walk right now due the whole area being in pain.

Is healing and recovery worse before it gets better? Just feeling very down about this whole thing. I just came out of a month of recovery from a surgery and now this… i just don’t know what to expect and feel like I was left to my own devices?
