we have a pentair ic40 made in 2021 with 80% life used - local pool store recommends replacing with the newer updated model of the ic40

their price is $2600 and I can find them online for $1400-1600

When I asked the pool store why there's a $1000 difference they said warranty and the ones online can be unreliable, lots die within a few weeks or months

is this true? Do I not know something?
