Must see hikes or views to go on? Will weather be a problem?
I am going to Big Bend from May 21-24 and was wondering what are the things we should prioritize seeing? Planned on going to Emory Peak at least since we thought it would be cool to go to the highest peak in the park. I know that is a very long hike and probably will be difficult and take all day, but we are both in our 20s and feel capable enough if we take our time. What else is a can’t miss? We plan on camping at the park so we will have plenty of time and I am very excited to see the view of the stars.
Also, I know people have cautioned other first time park visitors on the heat during this time of year. According to the forecast, it actually doesn’t seem like it’ll be as hot as it has been, which should help. Planning on bringing tons of water, We will definitely need sun protection due to that very high UV, but otherwise, is this too hot of a temperature to do Emory Peak?
One of the first times doing a legit camping trip staying at a National Park, so any other tips or suggestions on what to bring/do?
