I need help with my tank!
Kind of a beginner with this! I started this 10 gallon tank a month ago, but incorporated water and plants from my previous beta’s established tank. It has platys, two mystery snails, and a few cherry shrimp. Everything in the tank seems to be thriving- plants are growing super fast and the platys are reproducing very quickly (just donated some).
I use heater, filter, and air stone, and the light stays on 10 hours a day (maybe this could be a problem).
However, no matter how much I clean it and do partial water changes, it looks/gets dirty super fast and the water smells quite bad. All water tests look good. I was wondering if this could be the wood used, over feeding, too many platys/snails reproducing, or another issue.
I just added four tetras, two assassin snails, and two amano shrimp to help clean things up. I’m also planning on donating one of the mystery snails since it’s hard to keep up with removing eggs/baby snails.
Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to get it clean and cycling properly!
