What's wrong with upwork fees

I got my first client in Upwork and i don't understand the greediness of Upwork like getting about 10% of my earnings and also take 1$ when withdrawal my money, and lastly buy connects to apply for more jobs, i think at this point freelancers are working for upwork instead for themselves, if you're not making huge earnings then then it has no point anymore, I'm thinking about moving the client outside Upwork do you think it's good idea?
