20G long Community Tank Filtration Advice
Looking sites/ threads to help me assess filtration based on stock and tank set up.
I have planted 20 gallon long freshwater.
Fluval plant and shrimp stratum with a corner of sand and the rest gravel and rocks
Critters:
Three neocardia
A bunch of little babies
A Ramshorn Gary, who hitchhiked on some plants
Three nerite black racers
Eight neon tetra’s
Future plan to add dwarf gouarmi or salt and pepper Cory’s. (Waiting a bit to let my newer plants beef up more and what happens if Gary has friends - may need to take down our old 10 gallon tank and make that an invertebrate home.)
I have a 20g sponge filter with oxygen and media and a hob that came with the a 10g running right now (sponge on intake) plus a separate bubbler.
Looking for info on upgrading to one filter to take up less space but there is just so much info! I’d rather have more than less filtration, but I also don’t wanna take up the whole tank with unneeded equipment.
So many of the resources that I find are massive rabbit holes for me, and don’t talk enough about how to compare your bio load against filtration against mere gallons of the tank.
With the shrimp and stuff I wanna make sure I’m not needed to do too many water changes and shock them to death! I’m not looking on skimping cleaning my tank. My nightly checks to suction of things that shouldn’t be in there will go on. And a monthly partial water changed so long as parameters don’t get wonky.
Thank you in advance for any links or websites or advice!
