Bad result step 2 ck

Be honest with me. I’m a non-US IMG. I studied for Step 2 CK for 9 months, and the day before the exam I developed gastroenteritis because of food from the hotel. I took the exam in severe pain, nauseated, and vomiting during almost every break.

My practice scores were ranging from 260–274 (highest was on UWSA1), but on test day everything went wrong. I was taking the exam holding my head with one hand and using the other to click answers because I felt like I was going to pass out. I left 10 questions blank, guessed around 5–6 questions without even reading them, and completely panicked in the middle of the exam.

My final Step 2 CK score was 253.

My dream was always General Surgery. I genuinely cannot see myself in another specialty. But with this score, being a non-US IMG without a visa, it feels like my world suddenly collapsed.

Please be honest with me: should I realistically continue the process? Should I pursue research, rotations, and everything else? Or should I give up on General Surgery and switch to IM or another specialty?
