Is there a subreddit where people are actually trying to find alternatives to modern work culture?
I find this sub to be confusing. The sub is called Antiwork. But it seems to just be a place where office workers come to vent about things they dislike about their current job. They don't seem to have any intention of doing anything differently beyond moving to a similar job that pays better, and or treats them better, and or allows more work/life balance. That probably sounds offensive, but that's just what I've observed. And I think people should have a safe space where they can vent.
What I'm confused by is the lack of posts about people actually trying to do anything different with their lives. Over the last few years of looking at this sub occasionally I haven't seen any posts about people picking up alternative lifestyles or finding alternative ways to make money that helps them to avoid the frustration of modern work culture. It seems like more of a passive echo chamber than a community that's actively trying to promote change.
I'm wondering if perhaps there's a subreddit similar to this one in ideology that shows real examples of people pushing back and refusing to go along with work culture, and helping each other to rebel. I know there's more niche communities like r/vagabond to some extent and r/intentionalcommunities but those are more about niche lifestyles than a focus on "Antiwork".
edit: ok, I did some reading about the whole Fox news situation. Something still seems really off about it though. Why agree to be interviewed by Fox news of all entities? Why was this one mod the only one to set up the interview? were they just a scapegoat? And despite how badly the interview went, why change the overall goal of the sub just because of this interview?
I can't confirm anything but it all seems sketchy to me.
Maybe the mods might chime in on this post. Or maybe remove it. Who knows?
