Could this be petrified wood ?
Found in an old clay quarry in Guizengeard, France. There was sand, clay and quartz pebbles around it. The piece measures 10cm. The geological description speaks of petrified palm wood but it seem quite different from other I have seen elsewhere. The laminated structure is very strange for what is I think a piece of quartz. Could it be petrified wood ? Or just a cool rock ?
