Looking to rent near Copenhagen from abroad…where do I even begin?

Hello, I’m a young single person who just got accepted at AAU (Copenhagen campus). I am looking for a studio or a spacious room within a 1 hr and 20 minute commute or so.

For the past few years I’ve moved around a lot and I’m quite tired of it - I was living in London for a year and moved 5 times, and viewings were like a job interview or a popularity contest. I find the idea of begging for a semi-ugly room in Copenhagen that I’ll only be able to keep for a few months to be very repelling. I’m still open to Copenhagen of course, I just feel very pessimistic.

My budget is 6500 kr. In an ideal world I would live in a town/neighbourhood that is pretty (either nice old buildings or a lot of nature). I’m very interested in outdoorsy activities and community around art. But I can compromise on the social stuff - I just want something nice where I’ll actually want to spend time- but if there is some young people around, or internationals, that’s also a plus.

So far I’ve been searching Køge, Roskilde, Hvidovre, Lyngby and Dragør at boligportal but did not find many options. I’m also considering malmo…

I don’t know what platforms are best to use - especially considering that I cannot view anything in person. Any guidance would be really appreciated!!
