UCDM3 Experience from a G5 55 user ( and C242)
Previous Setup : C242 and Asus 500hz QD OLED
Current : LG G5 55 and 500hz
Trial : UCDM3 and 500hz
Background :
Ive tried most variants of the 32 QDs ranging from the G80 and the HP omen transcend and now with the ICDM3.
Also tried the UCWMG , UCDP and LG32GS.
Of all the OLEDs, I’ve only kept 3. The G5 55, C242 and the 500hz QD.
I only play CS2 and single player games/browse. 500hz is for CS2 and the G5 for everything else.
The good:
This is the best 32 monitor I’ve used. SDR brightness is nice and HDR picture is serviceable. Calibration out the box is great and it has plenty of options to tinker with. The internal power is great(no more power brick). Nice, vibrant colors. Black shield coating makes a difference .
The bad:
ABL dimming still an issue in Peak 1000 modes. The stand, IMO, is dated and takes up too much space.
The verdict? Returning.
Not cause it’s bad. It’s great for a monitor.
But my situation, it’s not hard to go back to 32 inches…., it’s damn near impossible to go back to lower brightness. If this is your first monitor or youve never experienced an OLED TV on PC, then you will not notice. Ignorance is bliss.
But for me, I just can’t do it. I’ve let myself get used to bright HDR. The color gap is minimal as well with Tandem vs QD.
So , I’d 100% recommend this if you don’t have the space for a TV. But if you do, I’d highly recommend trying to do a dual, best of both worlds setup .
