I'm on the fence between her and Funky Monkey as the traitor if it isn't a secret kid we don't fully know about yet, personally.

If it's one of the kids we know of, my intuition says they did it so they could stay in the house with everyone as a family because that's preferable to the real world where they don't have a good home life.

I used Foxtrot in my meme here since I feel like she fits it better. I've had the idea of someone choosing to stay in the Backwards House of their own volition but had nowhere to go with that until the latest chapter.

I decided that the TBH characters (aside from Mother obv) shall be the babies born on my island. Currently I have Funky Monkey and Empathetic Elephant. Hoping for Catie and Od-Dog soon!

Funky Monkey's parents are Sans and Natsuki. (his birth was tied to Sans as his dad)
Empathetic Elephant's parents are Kirby and Cinnamoroll (didn't really have a solid parent plan for him, so I let them become his parents since the opportunity presented itself)

Fun Fact: As Posh Pine is tied to Natsuki being their mother, that means he and Funky Monkey are gonna be brothers when Posh Pine is born!

The logo reveals the arrival order from who's been there the shortest to longest, left to right minus Posh Pine and Shy Shark. I've been thinking about that for a while and with Mother blinding Empathetic Elephant in the latest chapter, I feel like this theory of mine will have a leg to stand on soon.

Funky Monkey's letter is placed after Empathetic Elephant and if Mother blinded the latter, she very well could've blinded the former too because before Empathetic Elephant, Funky Monkey tried to escape before Empathetic Elephant.

There's also a possibility that Missy Mouse can't speak because she tried to escape too and was punished as well. Whether she tried to escape with or before Funky Monkey remains to be seen if this is the case. But at the very least, I'm sure Funky Monkey tried to escape and was blinded by Mother.

This possible arrival order also poses another question. The remaining two orange and black letters. The first children perhaps? At least the orange character's existence has been hinted at so far. A few have pointed out an orange toothbrush with everyone else's in Chapter 5 during the house tour.

I say only the orange character has been hinted at because I believe the door in the separated hallway in Chapter 3 belongs to this missing orange character. You can't really make it out due to the image compression, but on the uncompressed page (which I only show a cropped screenshot here for clarity), you can see the door emblem clearly.

At first I thought those were claw marks, but then I thought again. "Orange... Could that emblem actually be stripes? A tiger!" This missing orange character could be a tiger. One of the first (assuming they came to the house together because otherwise that would be lonely) but maybe not the one with the dying wish mentioned in the VHS teaser? It's 50/50 but given the order, I'm inclined to believe there's a 2nd black character we have yet to be given hints towards who's the one with the dying wish.

In summary, the possible arrival order as the logo suggests is.
Catie-B
Od-Dog-(First) A (confirmed as he's the last one before Catie arrived in Empathetic Elephant's story)
Empathetic Elephant-C (Likely as he was still trying to escape when Od-Dog arrived)
Funky Monkey-K (Could be the case if he tried to escape before Empathetic Elephant given the now shared blindness)
Missy Mouse-W (Possibly if she attempted to escape with or before Funky Monkey)
Mighty Mule-(Second) A
Foxtrot-R
(Unknown Orange Character)-D (Could be a tiger and one of the first children in the house)

If I had to place Posh Pine and Shy Shark in the arrival order, I'm guessing either before or after Missy Mouse's letter depending on whether she might've attempted to escape or not. Feels right to place them right before the "rebellious kids" start to arrive. Also Shy Shark and Posh Pine seem to be used to the occurrence of new arrivals to the house so they had to have been there for a few of them.

The Backwards House is fighting back against characters' memories more than you might initially think. Just because you remember your name in the Backwards House, doesn't mean you remember everything about yourself. But you can remember if certain things ring a bell to what you forgot.

Catie says their memories have been fuzzy ever since they got to the Backwards House, and while they forgot, the game show's final round helped them to remember they were a dancing prodigy. After the game show ends, while not as vivid, Catie feels a bit of deja vu when Od-Dog calls them "quite the liar" as a vision of someone who bears a striking resemblance to someone we see in a flashback at the end of Chapter 10.

A flashback that ends with Catie calling said someone "liar" being echoed in context to this interaction. A friend it appears? Catie and their friend talk about getting second place in a dance competition because Catie couldn't catch their friend at the end of their performance.

Catie remembers their proficiency at dancing because of a dance competition happening, but they aren't the only one to remember something. When Catie and Od-Dog finish their performance, Od-Dog briefly remembers when Catie catches him only to forget when they accidentally drop him after it's announced they got first place. With Chapter 10's flashback, this confirms Catie's friend is Od-Dog! But then why doesn't Catie remember their friend? Fuzzy memories.

I purpose this theory. Od-Dog got trapped in the Backwards House and Catie went looking for him. But since they got trapped too, Catie doesn't remember who Od-Dog was in real life and that they were looking for him at all as the Backwards House blurs one's memory unless the situation jogs it.

The Backwards House has been on my mind so much over the past month that it's beginning to overshadow the nuggit for me! If I didn't have around 70+ comic ideas in reserve (not counting any remaining ASDF Nuggit comics I want to do), I'd probably have quit altogether! There are too many to go to waste, so I still wanna finish (at least most of) them beforehand even if my interest in Chikn Nuggit is beginning to wane. Finish the craziness I started.

Can't be grateful enough towards u/EnchantEleven for introducing me to The Backwards House. I forgot how good it is to not put up with a construct series*.
*A series you like that you look at and just wanna fix it up. Reconstruct the issues it has away.

Having something better is really helping me come to terms that Chikn Nuggit isn't gonna be the series I wish it could be. Said wishes might never have been aligned with the series' intentions in the first place.

The lack of ambition and poor execution of Chikn Nuggit is and probably will always be disappointing, but you know what? I don't think moving forward is gonna hurt and be as bad as I thought. Just gotta resolve unfinished business before fully being onto bigger and better things.
