Neighors pit bull keeps escaping yard and has killed 6 chickens and 2 cats, our county has no animal control, what to do?
This takes place in an extremely remote place in Arkensas, our county only has about 8000 people. We had a couple move in the neighboring propety next to my property at the beginning of this month. They brought thier pitbull with them who on the 2nd day of them moving in, broke out of captivity and during the night got into the larger chicken coop and killed 5 chickens and one died later of complications of the attack. The pitbull also killed two of my neighbors barn cats. I make money on the side selling eggs to friends and family on online marketplace and after the attack I’m only producing around 30% of my normal amount. Ive installed 3 trail cameras around my property a few years ago and 2 days ago one of my trail cams got him.
Has anyone had any luck in getting compensation for the loss of livestock by a pit bull attack?
Would this trail cam be good evidence?
We have no animal controll and the only other option is the shotgun, but I’m afraid if I shoot it it’s going to get more complicated.
