Is going to Isla Mujeres worth it for a 5-day itinerary? Honest reviews please

Is going to Isla Mujeres worth it for a 5-day itinerary?

We’re doing 2 nights at Xcaret and 2 nights at Hyatt Ziva, and the hotels were already pretty expensive, so we really want to maximize the all-inclusive experience and enjoy the properties. We also booked a private tour to Chichen Itza.

I keep seeing mixed reviews about Isla Mujeres. People say the beach is beautiful, but also very crowded and extremely hot. If we ever go, it would only be as a day trip.

For those who have been: was it actually worth taking a day out of your Cancun trip for Isla Mujeres, or would you rather spend the time enjoying the resorts? Honest opinions appreciated.
