Who would you rather?

Butter if he resigns is gonna be a $2m a year player or there abouts.

NAS (Is gettable in 12months) also $2m a year player.

We can only have one - who would you rather?

This might be an unpopular opinion but if we loose Butters and get NAS is a win.

NAS is arguably a better player - more versatile & a proven goal kicker.

That’s not to say butters is not an absolute super star in his own right.

With a young core of Cochrane, Pilot, Salopek & Rodan all likely to join in the next 12months.

On top of that our core of key youth looks good in Georgianous, Berry, JHF, Burgoyne & Whitlock.

Obviously would love to have both, but is loosing Butters a win if it meant we could secure NAS & all these F/S.

How Exactly does this work?

We almost guarantee to lose Butters by all reports!

Apparently that’s a good thing coz we get the picks we need to get Dougie Cochrane!

How many picks do we actually need to get him? Cochrane?

Butters is guaranteed 3 1st rounders coming to port, surely we don’t need all that to secure 2-4 moves up in this years draft?

Would it just not make sense to strike a deal with Essendon & Dogs to get pick 1 this year from Dons

Just get Cochrane naturally via the draft with the 1st pick .

Dons aren’t gonna wanna draft Cochrane and they would atleast get an extra pick or 2 for just being in the negotiations. Which I believe they are chasing Akri in the 1st rd who maybe going picks 5-10. (They use ports 1st rd this year)

Dogs give up the 3 1st round and some pick swaps to get butters.

Port get Dougie (via the Dons pick swaps) + Dog next 3 1st rounder.

Worst case we give dogs1st pick this to dons to get their next years 1st.

They would likely try get HVH & we are maybe going for Pilot ect in 2027 Draft. Via FS so we should be able compete with Tassie for the kids we want.
