Can I work in accounting without an accounting degree?

Hi. If anyone who works in accounting majored in something unrelated what was it and how was the process to break into the field? Could I major in economics or personal finance and be able to become an accountant?

What career path is the best out of these and why?

Hi I'm undecided on which career to pursue, I'm currently an out of state student worried about not being able to find a good job post grad. I'm considering switching to accounting, education, nursing, ultra sound or dental hygiene. If anyone is familiar or worked/works in any of these fields please elaborate on what a day in the life is like for you! Or if anyone has any other career recommendations that would be nice too.

If anyone wants more context about me I do like science and enjoyed taking biology. I am interested in healthcare especially anatomy & physiology. I also liked the business classes I took and can see myself in accounting however I worry since most people say it's a very boring job.
