Good reads that don’t feel fanfic/wattpad-like?
Hi everyone!
I’m trying to get out of a bit of a reading slump and I’m looking for some good book recommendations.
I’ve noticed that a lot of the books I come across lately aren’t really what I’m looking for. I’m not opposed to YA or lighter reads at all, but I’m looking for something with good prose, interesting plots and well-written characters — something that feels a little more mature and polished.
I have absolutely nothing against fanfiction or Wattpad-style stories, by the way! I used to read a ton of fanfiction myself, so I know exactly why people enjoy them. I just don’t really feel like reading something in that vein at the moment.
I’m very open genre-wise: light, serious, realistic, fantasy, contemporary, whatever! I’d just love something genuinely well-written and engaging.
For reference, one of the last books I really enjoyed was Sunburn by Chloe Howarth.
