MoCA speed's slower than Wifi
I set up a pair of MoCA 2.5 adapters to connect my PC to my home server over coax, but the connection is only getting around 205 Mbps — slower than my Wi-Fi speeds.
My setup is:
- ISP feed goes into a PoE filter that then goes into 3-way splitter in the basement
- Splitter outputs go to:
- two living room coax lines
- one bedroom coax line
- In the living room:
- modem is connected to one coax port
- MoCA adapter is connected to the other coax port
- In the bedroom:
- second MoCA adapter connects to the coax wall jack and then to my PC via Ethernet
The splitter is MoCA-rated, and the adapters link successfully, but performance is much lower than expected for MoCA 2.5. Wi-Fi to the server is actually faster.
