upper back muscle strain and what happens to my gains now
i am not seeking medical help.
dear fitness community, i hate to post this, but it's a reality for me know. that said i wish swift recovery to all injured gym-goers.
i am a 31 year-old male, 6'0 and 182 lbs.
6 days ago, i pulled a muscle while doing barbell Romanian deadlifts, while i was standing up with the lift. something felt like a sharp snap; no sounds, no incredible pain. i was just sure that i should not and could not do anything for a while. went right back home.
since then, it has been very uncomfortable to stand still, or even sit still (like driving) for more than a couple of minutes. no pain while laid down. the pain is not sharp, it rather feels like there are some muscles trying to keep me upright and then they get tired and ache quickly. this is the closest i can get to describing it, hell, i can't even locate the pain externally. it's somewhere very near my right shoulder blade. i feel pain while writing this.
i visited a chiropractor today, first he examined me, and then he applied a warm towel thingy with electricity, but no solution came out of it just yet. no real diagnosis either, but i heard him say "muscle strain" while inspecting. he told me that i could still lift, but with light weight. he added that i should stop if i feel pain at a 2-3 on a scale of 1 to 10. we will follow up with him on monday or tuesday.
anyway i'm glad that i'm back. but i am very curious how the hell i'm going to keep what i've built in 6 months. i was really into lifting heavy and seeing some great achievements for my level. i know that i should be glad that i have experienced this tiny little injury comparing to many other disastrous ones and be am still able to keep hitting the gym. i'm just sad that i will lose a considerable amount of mass because of it.
so i'm not quite looking for a solution here, just wanted to share. i would appreciate your input on this one. wishing everyone a great weekend ahead.
