I got a dl380p gen8 that's too power hungry to use as a NAS which would be convenient since it has 16 ssd slots.

With that said I got the idea of replacing the motherboard with something more modern but I got some questions about it.

Is it possible to use the original HPs power supplies?

I've searched a bit and found a couple sources saying it's possible but I never understood how

I also got 128gb ram ddr3 ECC which I guess would be great to reuse.

Any ideas for motherboards/CPUs for this purpose?
