I dropped off my passport for the China visa at the NYC consulate Friday morning 4/24. I am supposed to fly to SF next Friday 5/1, and then from there to China on 5/7, so I really need my passport back before 5/1. They told me at the center that I was not eligible to pay for expedited service. If Friday rolls around and it's not ready yet, can I go to the consulate and cancel my application and get my passport back that same day? Does anyone have experience doing that? My thinking is if I can't get the Visa in time I would rather plan a pit stop on the way to/from China and activate the 240 hr visa that way, then fly back to NYC from SF just to pick up my passport later. Any advice is welcome!!
