Im sure most of you have been keeping up with the recent delays on renewals for DACA. Some people are reporting 160+ days waiting for an approval and some have been asked to return for biometrics screening, restarting the timeline on an already long wait.
I have been pretty diligent about renewing on time and giving myself a healthy head start so that I don’t lose my ability to work. My last renewal in 2025 was within 150 days and it came pretty close.
I have expressed this concern with my immigration lawyer who has been helping me renew since my first application. She told me all applicants are now required to go in for biometrics, even green card holders. I told her I really didn’t want to be caught with my work permit expiring (I’m a teacher and expiration would land in March during standardized testing). She said renewing ahead of the 150-120 days is possible but you run the risk of having your application rejected. She’s never given me bad advice before but I’m getting nervous and want to renew at least 6-7 months before expiration next year. She said I could but keep in mind that it can get rejected.
I know the USCIS website states 150-120 days is the the optimal time to reapply but it is possible to renew before that?
My question is: has your application been rejected for renewing too early or do you know anyone whose been rejected for renewing too early?
