non-renewed for next year (5th year teacher, 2nd year in district)
A few weeks ago my principal told me she would not be renewing my contact for next year. Said I’m a good teacher just not the right fit. Of course I was devastated. I have poured my heart into this school the past 2 years. Two years ago I left my teaching position in another state and accepted this job as I was moving (I was at my previous school for 3 years). She gave me the choice to resign like many principals do - and ultimately I decided to resign (at the end of the school year not mid year). she wrote me a recommendation and I have one from my previous principal as well. I thought I would be fine in securing a new job but after reading posts on here - I’m worried I made the wrong choice in choosing to resign. My commute is quite far but some of the schools I’m applying to are kinda close by. Will I be able to find a job? Will my application even be considered or will be assumed that I probably was non renewed and not worthy of a position in nearby/similar districts? I don’t want to land a job just by default like candidate pool being low - but will I even be considered by higher ranking schools?
