Hi everyone,I'm reaching out for some constructive career advice. I currently work as a Systems Analyst in the tech industry, with prior experience in project/account management within fintech and e-commerce sectors.

Where I'm at:
I feel like I've hit a career plateau. While I'm regularly performing responsibilities at a Middle+ level (including Scrum Master duties), my official grade is still evaluated as Junior+. I'm eager to grow and eventually explore opportunities in international markets (US/EU), but I'm unsure which skills to prioritize to make that leap.

My current skillset (for context):

  • Data: Database design, SQL (PostgreSQL), writing queries of varying complexity
  • Security: Familiar with OWASP standards and secure development practices
  • Code: Basic Python; can read PHP code at a surface level
  • Process & Analysis: Requirements elicitation (User Stories, Use Cases), process modeling (As-Is/To-Be), UML/BPMN diagramming
  • Tools & Infrastructure: Git, Docker, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Postman
  • Integration: API design and documentation (REST, SOAP)
  • Architecture: Experience with microservices, monolith decomposition, and web/PWA applications
  • Product: Defining and tracking product metrics
  • Soft Skills: Leading user interviews, stakeholder communication, sprint planning

My specific questions:

  1. For someone aiming to transition from a Junior+ to a solid Middle/Senior Systems Analyst role in competitive international markets, which 2-3 hard skills would you recommend deepening first?
  2. What soft skills or professional habits tend to differentiate strong candidates during remote interview processes for US/EU companies?
  3. Are there any certifications, portfolios, or practical projects that carry particular weight for Systems Analysts targeting relocation?

I'm not looking for a roadmap overhaul — just focused, actionable advice on where to invest my learning energy next.

If you've navigated a similar transition or hire for these roles, I'd genuinely appreciate your perspective. Thank you in advance for your time and constructive feedback.
