Am I being unreasonable?
I (16m) have started looking at colleges. I’m not interested in Ivy League schools even though I have very good grades and a strong academic profile. I’m American but would be interested in studying in New Zealand/Aotearoa. my mom had told me several reasons why I shouldn’t including:
- the school (Victoria university of Wellington) doesnt look challenging enough
- it’s so far away
- people come to the US to study- because our schools are the best so why would I go anywhere else
Accounts from students I’ve talked to have said the uni is good and they feel challenged and it’s strong in subjects I’m interested in. I want to go far away. desperately. not going into it but that’s a plus for me, not a downside. And frankly I’m tired of just looking for the best possible thing instead of what I want. Would it be unreasonable for me to at least apply (when the time comes) to VUW?
